Since 2015, we learned that even though the Bedford Falls of "It's A Wonderful Life" is a fictional place, through the help of friends and neighbors working together for a common civic goal, Bedford Falls could be a reality right here in Park Ridge.
In less than four months back in 2015, the newly-formed "Park Ridge Holiday Lights Fund (NFP)" raised $45,000 to professionally decorate Uptown and South Park, turning them into winter wonderlands of light for last holiday season. This year we are looking to light up even larger areas of Uptown and South Park.
But to do so we will need your help.
Your donation of any amount will help us reach our goal to expand the decorations this holiday season! You can make a donation TODAY by visiting Park Ridge Community Bank or by mail. Online donations are also accepted by clicking here.
“Park Ridge Holiday Lights Fund (NFP)” – One Community, One Goal.
The single goal of the Park Ridge Holiday Lights Fund is to provide professional-quality holiday lighting to both the Uptown and South Park business districts in Park Ridge. Just one community, just one goal.
In 2015, we sought competitive bids from multiple professional lighting vendors who specialize in municipal lighting projects such as ours. After reviewing bids and meeting with vendors, the Fund Committee selected Holiday Creations Pro, Inc. out of Broadview, IL (www.hclights.com), which has done projects for Burr Ridge, Highland Park, Naperville, Orland Park and other Chicago-area communities.
Unlike many other suburbs, however, instead of cutting down and scrapping low-quality lights every season, we made a multi-year commitment to purchase high-quality LED lights designed to last for a number of years. These lights are carefully taken down and stored at the end of each season for reinstallation the following year.
Now that we have met our three-year financial commitment to the original vendor for the purchase of lights and installation, we have gone out to bid and selected a new vendor who will be installing the lights for us for the 2018 holiday season. For 2018, our fundraising goal is $35,000, which will cover the installation costs as well as the purchase costs for the lights needed for the new sections along Northwest Highway.
